Alitalia is the national airline in Italy. Founded in 1946, it ceased to operate in 2009 but was revived to its current form. It operates an extensive network within Europe and the Middle East, plus long haul services to North and South America. Alitalia is a member of SkyTeam and has extensive code share arrangements with Etihad Airways which has a large stake in the company.
